Rates are reviewed at least twice a year and may need to be adjusted to reflect changes to our costs.
Given the dramatic increases in the cost of providing our service, in particular the increased travel costs, we have adjusted our rates accordingly. We know that many are experiencing financial pressures and we are trying to balance those realities with the pressure to ensure that our services are sustainable long-term.
General Rates for families
We really value that our service comes to you - to your home, your kindy, your school, or wherever if best for you. We believe these leads to the best outcomes clinically because you are learning to communicate in your natural settings. We also know that for many families, driving to appointments adds extra stress on a family.
All of our in-person rates include travel costs within Wellington, Hutt Valley, and Porirua. For clients in Kāpiti, there may be an additional travel surcharge. Please contact us for quotes and availability for other locations.

Scheduling and cancellations
If you need to reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible. We have many people on our waitlist and cancellations put a lot of pressure on our business. That said, we know that things happen so we will always try to book in someone else from our cancellation list, but that isn't always possible.
- less than 24 hour notice, 100% cancellation fee unless we can schedule another client
- 48-24 hours notice, 75% cancellation fee unless we can schedule another client
- at least 48 hours notice, no fee
If you need to reschedule, please contact your clinician via email or text as soon as possible and we will do our best to reschedule the appointment. Please keep in mind that this may not always be possible given our commitments to other clients and the distances we often travel to see them.
Education, disability, and advocacy sector
Our rates vary for training, workshops, and consultation. Please contact us to discuss your needs and we can prepare a quote.

Appointment length and format
Therapy session format depend on your situation typically 30-60 minutes for therapy and 1-1.5 hours for initial assessments.
An AAC assessment typically requires 3-8 sessions depending on how many different options need to be trialled. If public funding is sought, an assessment report is required and typically is takes 2-3 hours.
Typically some time is reserved for discussion or to allow everyone to practice various support techniques. The proportion of time dedicated to hands-on therapy activities and consultation will vary from session to session.
We request that one family member or relevant person be available to observe therapy and participate in activities to ensure that they understand how to facilitate communication throughout the week.
Illness
Please text us the night before if you think that someone may be showing early signs of illness, so that we know to contact you before driving to the appointment - this will allow us to waive the last minute cancellation fee (or only charge for our transport if we have already left).
Clinicians also are responsible for monitoring that their own fitness and health is sufficient for work. This means that on occasion a session may need to be cancelled at short notice due to illness or unforeseen life events.
If you believe your clinician may have been exposed to a contagious disease during an appointment (i.e., if you or a family member becomes ill shortly after an appointment), please contact us in case we are scheduled to see any clients with suppressed immune systems later that week.
Payment
Payment by bank transfer is preferred within 2 weeks of service. An invoice will be emailed to you following the session via Xero accounting software (unless you request otherwise).
We reserve the right to charge a late fee (5% of payment owed) and cease treatment if outstanding payments remain unpaid after 4 weeks. Statements and receipts are available by request.
